about

Former black-eyed SUZIE band member, Mark Matejka, wrote and initially recorded Where Does the Sun Go? in 1993. It was the band's first hit in a long list of originals and folk inspired covers that was and still is a crowd pleaser. This track was re-recorded in 2010 and is part of the band's album, Back to You.

lyrics

I was walking through the oak grove
I started talking to the old crow
He sang a song but sang too low
It was the only song that he know

Tell me I’d like to know
Where does the sun go?
Tell me I’d like to know
How does that song go?

Floating in the summer breeze
Underneath the evening trees
Sipping back on sweet lemonade
On days like this I’m not afraid
The wildest sunset that I’ve ever seen
And in the field coyotes scream
Then comes the moon my old friend
And past the stars I see the end

Tell me I’d like to know
Where does the sun go?
I’d like to tell you but I don’t know
Where did the song go?

We got a violin and an old guitar
It’s up to you to make a choice
So come and join our gypsy band
Because we love the sound of your voice
I asked the man with the old squeeze box
To play me a tune
I’m feeling better and I’m not so blue
Feels like I’ve been here before

Tell me I’d like to know
Where does the sun go?
I’d like to tell you but I don’t know
So just kiss the sun good-bye
Tell me I’d like to know
Where does the sun go?
Tell me I’d like to know
How does that song go?
